If you feel more comfortable purchasing a server and paying for support as it is needed by your organization then this option is for you.  You can make use of hardware supplied by Mattelo or you can use your existing hardware.  Choose a combination of the following services that can be offered by our servers: 

• DHCP and DNS services to improve the maintainability and scalability of your network.
• NAT Firewall to ensure that those unwanted visitors stay away from your network and to reduce misuse of Internet resources by employees.
• Internet Security Service.  Every user must provide a username and password to access the Internet.   Access to the Internet can be limited to certain sites and/or certain times of the day for specified groups of users.  All Internet requests are logged to provide you with statistics of what your employees are doing on the Internet.   Access to "un-wanted" sites containing pornographic, warez, violence etc. content are blocked.  Updates for software like Microsoft Windows, Office etc. are cached on the server to reduce your company's Internet usage.
• Windows File Server that ensures all your company's data is stored in one place under well structured folders.  Permissions on these folders are controlled to ensure that only certain groups of users can access certain files. Roaming profiles ensure that your users store their data like "My Documents" automatically on the server where it is backed up.
• Email service.  Create unlimited  email accounts on your own domain.  Passwords for the file server, Internet access and email accounts are synchronized so that your users only need to remember a single password for all tasks.  All emails are automatically scanned for virusses by the server.  You server will provide log files with statistics on users email activities.
• A Backup Service that will give you peace of mind.  All your data (including emails) is automatically backed up to the external hard disk drive on a daily basis. The backup disk must be taken off site every day to ensure that a copy of you data is available in case of a fire or similar events at the office.
• A Virtual Private Network service that will allow you to access your company data and emails from anywhere in the world using secure SSL encrypted connections.
  
• Mattelo server management console that allow you to create your own users, email adresses etc.

What hardware do you need?

When purchasing hardware for your server it is important to keep in mind that this machine will be used by all the other computers in your organization, hence it makes sense to invest a little more in hardware that will be powerfull enough to save your employees time.  We recommend the following hardware components in your server:

• A 3GHz Intel Pentium Processor.
• 2GB Dual DDR Memory.
• Two 160GB Seagate SATA II Hard Disk Drives that will be configured as RAID 1.
• Two network interfaces to provide routing and firewall capabilities.
• A UPS to protect your server from power surges and failures. 
• A 320GB Seagate USB Hard Disk Drive to backup your valuable data.
  

What do you pay?

One of the major benefits of this option is that you can select a combination of services that are needed most by your organization and only pay for the installation of those services.  The following components are used by other services and must be installed on every server:

The following services are optional and you may choose any combination that will satisfy your organization's needs.  The Mattelo network team will make suggestions to how these services can be combined to provide the most effective solutions.

After your server has been setup properly it still needs to be installed at your premises and workstations will need to be configured to make use of the server.  It generally takes less than half an hour to configure a workstation to make use of the server.  Physical installation of the server and configuration of the workstations will be charged for at R150 per hour.  Travel costs will be reimbursed at AA travel rates.
